Detailed below is a selection of Klinkhamer-style patterns tied by Alun Rees for you to try. This is a great pattern for both trout and grayling alike.

Black Klinkhamer

  • Hooks: Partridge of Redditch 15BN Klinkhamer or similar size 10, 12, 14, 16
  • Body: Black ultra-fine dubbing or similar
  • Thorax: Peacock herl
  • Hackle: Black rooster
  • Post: White siliconised polypropylene yarn
  • Head: Black tying silk and clear varnish
  • Notes
    • Designed to fish in broken water, don’t be afraid to tie this fly in the larger sizes and fish it with confidence. Change the post colour to suit the conditions you fish. Orange and Chartreuse are good colours for different light conditions.

Cream Klinkhamer

  • Hooks: Partridge of Redditch 15BN Klinkhamer or similar size 10, 12, 14, 16
  • Body: Cream ultra-fine dubbing or similar
  • Thorax: Peacock herl
  • Hackle: Red game rooster
  • Post: White siliconised polypropylene yarn
