Post-Wing Salmon Fly

This is the tying technique for tying post wing flies. This technique can be used to tie any number of patterns from bass flies through to salmon flies. The idea is for the wing to be given movement and for the profile of the fly to appear fish-like. Below are detailed the materials to show the tying of the bottle tube fly.

  • Tube: 15mm brass bottle tube
  • Silk: Red 8/0 sheer.
  • Wing: Sunburst arctic fox under strands of pearl angle hair under orange artic fox under silver holographic angle hair under black arctic fox.
  • Collar Hackle: Black schlappen feather.
  • Cheeks: Jungle fowl eye feathers.
  • Head: Red.
