Lightning Bug
This is a great pattern from North America for fishing heavy tailwater or in floods. It also has its uses as a pin fry imitation on both rivers and still waters.
- Hook: Kamesan B400 or 175 or similar in sizes 12 through to 8’s
- Silk: Black 8/0
- Bead: In proportion to the hook. I have used a 3mm silver tungsten bead for a size 10 hook.
- Tail: Pheasant tail fibres
- Rib: silver wire
- Body: Blue Krystal mirror flash wrapped as a body.
- Legs/hackle: Black hen tied flat over the thorax
- Thorax: Peacock herl
- Shellback: 4 strands of the body material tied over.
