The night was arranged to finish off the winter tying season and to raise funds for the Society’s continuing commitment in introducing children into both Fly fishing and Fly Tying.
There are a number of video sequences below which relate to some of the flies and the individual tiers that were demonstrating that night.
The idea was to record some of the events of the night and allow those that attended to refresh the memories and tying skills exhibited during the evening.
The Chairman of the society Lindsey Reynolds made a short address and the results of the raffle where announced.
To those of you that came, I hope you enjoyed yourselves. To those of you that missed the evening including a delicious hog roast then I hope you will be able to join us again.
The society raised a total of £550 for our schools’ program which is a fantastic result by any standards with 97 visitors attending.
It has to be mentioned that Kieran Jenkins is a 14 years old and is already an exceptional angler and tier who has just recently been announced as the Welsh Youth Captain.
With the support that was given on the night, I am sure that we will be able to encourage others to join him.
Special thanks must also be given to those that donated generous gifts for the raffle, namely:
- Huw Bassett
- Kevin Jones
- Tight Lines Direct
- Hardy Greys
- Tony Hopkins
- Gwent Angling Society
- Niche Products
- Wentwood Anglers
- Dai Parker
A very special thank you to Fred Parry who bid £150 for hand-built rod which was originally a prize and was then auctioned.
Thanks to all the tiers who gave freely of their time and in support of our aims.
If I have missed anyone out I apologise it is not intentional. Again many thanks to you all.
If you have any questions about fishing or fly tying then get on the forum and we will try to help where we can.
