This is a tying that was shown to me by Peter Dunne from Ireland. A truly remarkable and talented tyer.

It is easier to tie than the traditional Klinkhammer.

The dressing is as follows:

• Hook: Partridge Klinkhammer or TMC200R size to suit.
• Silk: White uni nylon 70 denier
• Body: Fine Tan dubbing
• Thorax:  Peacock glister dubbing
• Thorax Indicator: Coloured foam of your choice (red, yellow, black etc).
• Wing post:  Siliconised polypropylene yarn
• Hackle: Red game cock hackle

Firstly attach the silk to the hook with a jam knot

Wind the silk down to the bend of the hook and dub on the dubbing material.

Wind the body on keeping it slim stopping at the point that you want to form the thorax.

Dub in the glister thorax and finish with the silk laying at the midpoint between the body and the thorax itself.

Tie-down a strip of coloured foam measuring about 2mm square. Cut off the waste foam so that you are left with about 3mm standing upwards.

Now tie in the wing post in the centre point of the foam. As pressure is put onto the yarn downwards the yarn will stand up supported by the foam.

Now tie in the hackle at this midpoint. For your information, I have since changed this and tie it in before the foam and in addition, I apply the glister just before hackling the fly.

Now dub on a little more glister and cover the exposed silk and hackle and take it back to the eye of the hook.

Wind the hackle underneath the foam indicator and tie it off at the head of the fly.

Trim the post to size and shape that you want and the fly is finished.

The hackle sits nicely under the foam and can be easily seen by the angler, but not by the fish.

Different coloured foams may help when light conditions are changing to help with seeing the fly.
