Fishing on the River Usk
The Gwent Angling Society offers an array of fishing on the wonderful River Usk, one of the UK’s most well-known fisheries. Boasting seven beats and over 10 miles of fishing, our members can enjoy a wide variety of water for multiple styles of fishing.
The wild brown trout of the River Usk need no introduction and make sure you are on the river during the early season to enjoy some amazing March Brown and Grannom excitement. Later in the season expect to find Pale Wateries, Blue winged olives, Yellow may, Iron Blues and even Danica mayfly. A true smorgasbord of fly life for the discerning angler.
Although in decline, our waters include salmon fishing hotspots on the lower/middle river near Chainbridge, as well as the chance for specimen sized trout. Further up the river our beats near Gilwern and Abergavenny provide first class trout fishing on some of the best water on the river. We also have water on the scenic upper river above Brecon. All of our Usk beats are situated in particularly beautiful and scenic areas of the Usk Valley and offer exclusivity.
