    hello,

I purchased an airflow 9 foot 5/6 weight starter outfit that came with a reel and line as well as the rod.

I was wondering what people thought of the part individually? My thoughts are that the line is pretty awful due to its memory and the reel is just as bad due to its terrible drag system that always turns itself to the tightest setting as well as its awful shape. However I think that the rod might be quite good.

    Please help.
    Thanks!

I didn’t find the right solution from the Internet.

    Hi

sorry for the delay in replying. As a club we have bought the same outfit that we loan out to beginners who attend our casting and fishing skills clinics that we run each year starting in the spring. You have to remember you are getting what you pay for. The reels job is just to hold the line. The line itself is what you really want to invest in as it is your delivery and presentation system. The line choice is a mine field dictated by what style you fishing is i.e. upstream dry, down stream wet fishing, still water. If you are looking for an all round line then consider the Scientific Anglers ART line designed specifically to cover many of the fishing disciplines. follow this link https://www.scientificanglers.com/product/mastery-art/

It costs about £59 in the UK and I am sure someone like Sportfish will have it

    Hope it helps
