    Here are a few photos I took of some micro caddis emerging.


    Adult Micro Caddis

    To give an idea of the size, the body was about 2-3 mm long and the wings were about 5mm long.

    Here is a sequence of photos showing the actual emergance, in all it took about 3 or 4 minutes.

    In case you are wondering the background is my wader leg. The pupa climbed about 6 ins (150 mm) above the waterline before emerging.

    In each case the caddis held its wings upright to dry .

    I will try to get some better images as soon as I can. Hopefully I can capture the pupa emerging from the water.

    Very interesting photos Robb,

    Puts things in perspective regarding fly size choice when these things are emerging.
